Hunkering Down at Halter Ranch

As winter begins to creep into the vineyard we spread straw on the hillside roadways to mitigate erosion.  This picture was taken from the tip of Block 31 Cabernet Sauvignon, looking up toward Viognier, Grenache Blanc, and Rousanne. These limestone chunks turned up while we were ripping in the rows for our new plantings. The perspective in the photo is difficult, but the majority of these are 5-8 feet long and 2-3 feet thick!

Check back tomorrow for a more detailed update on our upcoming plantings and if you haven’t been yet, check out our facebook page!
