Halter Ranch Vineyard: Updates!

New railings on the press pad and fruit being sorted in the background

Stems fall through the hole in the floor into the bed of the dumptruck beneath

Bill and Tomislav work the sorting table while Kevin and Molly arrange barrels to receive Block 8 Syrah

This week saw Block 22, Block 8, and Block 5 Syrah harvested.  Block 8 will be a special barrel ferment similar to Block 7 Syrah we blogged about here.  Block 5 and Block 22 will go through primary fermentation in tank.

Over the next two weeks we will be working furiously to bring in what fruit is left in the vineyard (this means you Cabernet Sauvignon!) before the next serious rainfall hits.

Halter Ranch Fun Fact of the Day:

There are over 200,000 individual vines and 20 different varieties of grape planted to Halter Ranch Vineyard.  If we were to extend them all in a straight line beginning at our property in Paso Robles, it would end just North of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
