Halter Ranch: In the Vineyard

We’ll have more harvest updates for you as we bring more fruit in, for today’s post we are focusing on peripheral activity in the vineyard.  The first photo offers a nice view of the primary sites for additional plantings to take place in early 2012.


Below are Blocks 38A (Marsanne) and 34B (Picpoul Blanc) both harvested last week before the rain.In the photo below, taken looking up toward block 21 Cabernet Sauvignon, the stack of bales is set to be distributed along all the dirt roadways in the vineyard.  As the rains begin, the straw will be spread out over all the exposed dirt to mitigate erosion.
