Veraison Watch

While checking out the progress our fruit has made over the past week, we stumbled upon an Assassin Bug on our Petite Sirah!  These helpful, if not especially pretty, insects feed on caterpillars and other soft bodied insect pests that torment grapevines.

Veraison (the transition from hard green berries to softer, sweeter, berries in shades of red, green, brown, or yellow) is underway on our early ripeners: Tempranillo, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and a few blocks that get more exposure.
